Formation of Minerals
Crystallization from magma- When magma cools and hardens and the atoms/ions arrange in a repetitive pattern
Precipitation- NOT from the sky! This type of precipitation occurs when dissolved minerals in water form a solid once the water has evaporated
Pressure and Temperature- Under extreme pressure and temperature, existing minerals become unstable and are forced to rearrange its atoms to form a NEW mineral (recrystalization)
Hydrothermal Solutions- A mixture of hot water and dissolved substances causing a chemical reaction with existing minerals, which creates NEW minerals
