What is soil?

 
Soil;

 Unconsolidated mineral or organic material on the immediate surface of the Earth that serves as a natural medium for the growth of land plants.

Soil Formation;

1. It contains particles such as broken down rocks and the remains of living things.
2. Formed when rocks are broken down by a process called weathering.

Soil Horizons;

1. Horizons seperate soil layers.
2. Soil Profile crosses the section of the soil horizons.
3. Mature Soil is soil that has developed three layers.
4. Immature Soil is soil that contains two layers and has formed more recently than mature soil.
